Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions Triangle homeowners ask most.

What areas do you serve?
Cary, Apex, Raleigh, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Fuquay-Varina and New Hill, plus the surrounding Triangle communities. We are based in Apex and work western and southern Wake County.
Are you licensed?
Yes — NC Landscape Contractor License #2479 and NC Pesticide License #026-30255. The pesticide licence is what allows us to apply turf products legally, which not every company mowing lawns in the Triangle actually holds.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free. Call (919) 796-8626 or send a request through the site and we will come look at the property.
What grass types do you work with?
All the common Triangle types — tall fescue on the cool-season side, and bermuda, zoysia and centipede on the warm-season side. The Triangle sits in the transition zone, which is why both are grown here and why timing advice that works in one state often does not work in this one.
When should a fescue lawn be aerated and overseeded?
Fall. NC State Extension puts the Piedmont target for fall seeding between mid-September and early October, with aeration and overseeding on established lawns around September 15th to October 1st. Seeding outside that window is the single most common reason a fescue lawn does not thicken up.
My lawn browns out in circles every summer. What is that?
On tall fescue, almost certainly brown patch — a disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani that develops when night temperatures sit at 68–70°F for five to seven nights and the leaves stay wet for 10–12 hours. It is why we avoid nitrogen on fescue through the heat, and why watering between midnight and 6am matters.
Can you work around my town’s watering restrictions?
Yes, and we will tell you what applies to your address. Apex and Cary both run year-round alternate-day irrigation schedules — odd addresses Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; even addresses Wednesday, Friday and Sunday; no automatic irrigation on Mondays. Hand-held hose watering is exempt, and Apex offers a 45-day New Landscape Permit for new sod or seed.
Do you handle one-off projects, or only ongoing maintenance?
Both. Sod installation, drainage work, plant installation and landscape lighting are project work and are commonly one-time jobs. Lawn care, fertilization, pruning and mulch are the ongoing side.
